Tailor-made Uganda Holidays
Uganda is an extremely diverse country with an enormous amount of wildlife now well on the way to recovery since Idi Amin's rule. Our tailor-made holiday highlights include: gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest; Queen Elizabeth National Park with its lion, elephant and buffalo; Kibale Forest home to chimpanzee and other primates.
We had a unique holiday in Uganda, firstly watching the total eclipse of the sun in the grounds of a rural school, which nevertheless possessed its own telescope! We set this up for the excited school children, and despite cautious predictions, were blessed with almost clear weather. We then flew down to the Bwindi forest in the south west of the country, where we stayed in the beautifully situated Buhoma lodge and untertook a day of gorilla tracking. Being from Namibia, it was interesting to compare the very different climate and environment of another Africa country. Afterwards, the rest of the group returned home, but we extended our trip for a couple of days by travelling down into Rwanda, a country which has made spectacular recovery since the 1994 genocide. Mr B Torbitt, November 2013.
I'm 52 and I have wanted to go and see the mountain gorillas of Bwindi since I was, well, probably since that fantastic Attenborough documentary years ago where he lies amidst and plays with them, or since seeing the film 'Gorillas in the Mist' and hearing of the work of Diane Fossey. If you're of a similar age, you probably feel the same... This endangered species is probably on every avid traveller's Top 10 if not Top Five places to see.
